(March 1, 2003)~ This afternoon when I was choosing another
book from the library after school, I looked over to see a kid around my age. It looked like she was being tutored for
something, I sort of over heard their conversation, and she was being taught how to read because she never learned to read
when she was a little kid. This really surprised me, and got me thinking twice about how lucky I am able to read, that there
are some people in this world that aren't as fortunate as me. I really LOVE to read, and I guess I've taken it
for granite all my life because at an early age I was compassion to learn everything you could possibly learn. I was
eager to read and to be independent! This girl in the library never had the same luck as me, and was just learning now. It
just goes to show you it is NEVER to late to learn anything, and we should never stop learning. I felt so compelled that evening,
while I was reading, I was thinking about how lucky I am to be me. I guess now to come to think of it, the reason
why I took being able to read for granite is I was the ONLY one in my kindergarten that was able to read fairly well, I used
to read to the class. When you really LOVE something you can learn lots from it, the only one that can stop you from learning
is YOU. YOU have the power to ask questions, YOU have the power to take in knowledge that you would like to know. And YOU
can be the one that is educated, all you need is the willingness to learn.
